FROM 2025:
Single Area of Concentration: Animal Science and One Health

Research Lines:

  1. Preventive Medicine, Clinical Practice, Surgery, and Diagnosis:
This research line focuses on the development and improvement of laboratory, toxicological, and imaging diagnostics, as well as innovative clinical and therapeutic procedures. It includes surgical techniques for various animal species, including companion, laboratory, and wild animals. Advances are applicable to species-specific and translational and comparative contexts, always considering the unique characteristics of Brazilian biomes, particularly the Cerrado. Furthermore, it integrates biotechnology, animal welfare, and One Health approaches, aiming for the sustainability of procedures.

  2. Health and Medicine of Production Animals:
This line emphasizes multidisciplinary investigation to advance the medicine and health of herds within the context of sustainability and One Health. Research includes clinical practice, surgery, health, reproduction, and conservation of production animals, with particular attention to environmental and regional conditions of the Cerrado biome. Additionally, it incorporates studies on animal welfare, sustainability of productive practices, and genetic resource management, promoting animal production that meets contemporary demands for environmentally responsible practices.

  3. Pathobiology and Animal Morphophysiology:
Exploring morphological, physiological, molecular, and pathological aspects of healthy and diseased animals, this research line is dedicated to the deep investigation of animal diseases, both in their natural forms and through experimental and comparative models. The development of in vivo and in vitro models is central to advancing knowledge, always considering regional ecological and biological characteristics. Furthermore, it addresses issues related to animal welfare and genetic resource conservation, with direct implications for ecosystem sustainability.

  4. Technologies Applied to Animal Science:
Focusing on the development of innovative and biotechnological tools, this research line aims to promote animal health, reproduction, and production. It includes the use of advanced biotechnologies to enhance productive efficiency and animal health. Additionally, it considers the practical application of these innovations under different environmental and regional conditions, with a keen eye on the sustainability of production systems and the welfare of the animals involved.
